The influence of the type of N-containing compound on formation of
the NO molecule in a conventional air/acetylene flame was evaluated
by using sodium nitrate, ammonium chloride, and urea to construct
calibration plots in the range 500–10,000 mg L−1 N. The influence
of the presence of hydrogen peroxide on NO formation was evaluated
by measuring absorbance at the NO line for working standards (500–
10000 mg L−1N) containing hydrogen peroxide at concentrations in
the range 0–10% (v/v).
