These preliminary findings suggest that yoga may offer a safe, beneficial intervention for reducing sleep and mood disturbance, perceived stress, anxiety, and blood pressure in older women with RLS(RLS is a common sleep and sensorimotor disorder associated with significant reductions in quality of life that are largely attributable to the substantial impairment in sleep and mood commonly accompanying RLS). Larger controlled trials are needed to confirm these benefits in this and other adult populations with RLS, examine the effects of yoga practice specifically on RLS symptoms and symptom severity, and to evaluate potential underlying mechanisms.
