Based on my observations and student responses, I would conclude that leaning is positively affected when students have a say in where they sit. They feel more ownership in their learning, therefore, they are more excited about learning. I know I am at conference or workshops, I would much rather have my choice of people to work with versus being told who to work with. I think the saying, “Treat other the way you would like to be treated” applies to this situation. By giving students a chance to self-assign themselves, they wanted less time working out differences that often hinder them when trying to complete a task in a minimal amount of time.
