Oil was the fastest-growing among the top 10 export categories, up 64.2 % for the 5-year period starting in 2010, driven mostly by petroleum gases, refined oil and, to a lesser extent, crude oil.
In second place for improving export sales was medical and technical equipment which was up 33.6% led by electro-medical equipment like x-rays.
Miscellaneous chemical goods posted the third-fastest gain in value at 27.3%.
The three declining categories among the top 10 Malaysian exports were: machinery (down in value by 22.6%), rubber (down 11.7%) and animal or vegetable fats and oils (down 2.4%).
