Most of the Salmonella isolates (69.6%) were resistant to at least
one antimicrobial drug of the 16 tested (Table 2). The highest resistance
was to sulfonamides (56.5% overall, 80% for the shrimp and “other”
samples), tetracycline (34.1%) and streptomycin (28.6%). Low levels
of resistance were found to gentamicin (3.2%), ciprofloxacin (2.3%),
ceftiofur (1.4%), cefotaxime (0.9%), ceftazidime (0.5%) and cefepime
(0.5%).
