Matcon UK shipping department has contacted me. There is a problem with the exhibit goods which have already arrived Bangkok port. I have been told PIC has refused to accept the goods unless we change the HS code from 84818099 to 73269099, hence my email to you seeking your understanding and co-operation.
1. Matcon is part of Idex which is a public listed company hence we have stringent procedures to comply this includes HS code. We are required to use our standard 8481 80 99 90 HS code for the discharge station hopper; more so we should not change the HS code where there will be an additional of GBP 995.
2. If PIC insists we change the HS code, please provide us a letter requesting such change. Please state that PIC is to absorb the additional of GBP 995 being import duty and taxes and PIC is to absorb storage charges as a result of PIC request to change the HS code hence the goods were delayed in release.
3. The exhibit goods may not remain in Thailand, this is to be decided by Dave Newell; if this is the reason of your request to change the HS code.
I will telephone you later this afternoon to discuss this matter. I hope you will appreciate that it is URGENT that this is resolved ASAP.
