System of Georgia institutions, administrators, and faculty need to be mindful of the risk
management issues that affect study abroad. Study abroad professionals and program
directors are expected to make appropriate and effective decisions in light of relevant
professional standards and ethics, institutional policies and practices and local, state, and
federal laws and regulations. In addition, the professionalism of the international
education field has lead to the establishment of guidelines and accepted practices which
aid in the development of institutional policies.
