This could help determine whether the application of SM skills would work better
for certain behaviors. Last, the effects of personality and psychosocial characteristics
on successful self-change was not examined. Previous studies suggest
that internal locus of control and psychosocial factors such as self-efficacy
are important to modifying problematic behaviors (Polivy & Herman, 2000).
Future studies should consider examining such variables through regression
analyses and identifying predictors of successful self-change.
