Organizational commitment was measured using the 8-item, 7-response point Affective Commitment Scale of Meyer and Allen (1984), while job satisfaction was measured with the six-item, 9-point scale of Rusbult and Farrell (1983). Propensity to remain with the organization was measured with Ketchand and Strawser’s (1998) singleitem question, and performance was measured using the Mahoney, Jerdee, and Carroll (1963,1965) scale which comprises eight items plus an overall performance item.2
