were shown in Fig. 2. Solar radiation peaked in May (2007 and
2008) or June (2006, 2009 and 2010) (Fig. 2a). Compared with
the other years, monthly solar radiation in 2006 was highest, with
a value of 607 MJ m2. Annual solar radiation during the period
from 2006 to 2010 varied from 3904 to 4194 MJ m2. The maximal
monthly mean air temperature appeared in June/July, with a range
from 25.3 to 27.5 C (Fig. 2b). During the growing season, mean air
temperature in 2006 and 2007 was higher than that in the other years. The seasonal variations of vapor pressure deficit (VPD) were
same in the 5-year experiment period (Fig. 2b). The maximal
monthly mean VPD in 2009 was greater in comparison with the
other years due to its stronger solar radiation and less precipitation.
However, at the annual scale, mean VPD in 2007 and 2008
was greater than in the other years. Although annual precipitation
in 2009 (456 mm) was the lowest during the 5-year experiment
period, annual mean soil water content (SWC) was higher than that
in 2006, 2007 and 2010 (Fig. 2c).
