We suggest that children with GD having total T4 levels of >20 µgrams/dL (260 nmol/L) or free T4 estimates >5 ng/dL (60 pmol/L) who are to receive radioactive iodine therapy be pretreated with methimazole and beta-adrenergic blockade until total T4and/or free T4 estimates normalize before proceeding with radioactive iodine. 2/+00
