3. Research questions
The aim of this study is to propose a hybrid learning mechanism for improving students’ web-based problem-solving abilities via the
combination of the cognitive apprenticeship model and the collaborative learning strategy. Moreover, the following research questions are
investigated:
1. Is there a significant difference in both problem-solving ability and online problem-solving performance between the experimental
group and the control group? This question is investigated to see whether the students who learned collaboratively using the cognitive
apprenticeship strategy significantly outperformed those who learned with the conventional cognitive apprenticeship approach in
terms of problem-solving ability measurements and online problem-solving performance.
2. Is there an interaction effect between the two independent variables, instructional strategy and learning ability? This question will
gauge whether different achieving students’ problem-solving abilities can be affected by different instructional strategies.
