The mobile use case differs significantly from the fixed
one. The total number of coverage BTSs required is
approximately 2300, which is divided between the three
different areas. Of the 2300 base stations, 520 would be
situated in urban areas, 1050 in suburban areas, and 730 in
rural. Compared with the fixed case, the number of suburban
and rural sites is much larger. This is natural, given the much
denser coverage in these areas (from 15% to 80-100%). An
even more important difference is in the capacity network.
Because of the lower data rates per user, the coverage BTS
network is sufficient for handling all traffic. Therefore no new
investments are necessary after the first three years, during
which the coverage network is deployed. Small investments
are also necessary for the transport network and the core site
elements. All the capital investments needed for the SAE
network are illustrated in the chart below.
