The expression of a functional
lactonase was confirmed by the absence of
N-hexanoyl-homoserine lactone (C6) and the reduction
of N-octanoyl-homoserine lactone (C8) in extracts of
the transformed cells (Fig. 1b), as shown in the results
of a bioassay with C. violaceum.
