The feasibility of utilizing the food waste hydrolysate as sub-
strate for fermentative hydrogen production by heat pretreated
sludge was investigated. Fig. 2 shows the variation of cumulative
hydrogen production (CHP) with different initial glucose concen-
trations derived from food waste hydrolysate. Standard deviations
in duplicate experiments were less than 5%. The cumulative hydro-
gen production increased from 1565.8 to 3112.3 ml with initial
glucose concentration increased from 15.52 to 36.9 g/L due to the
limitation of carbon source. A modified Gompertz equation (Eq.
(2)) was used to describe the cumulative hydrogen production
curve.
