2. I understand that all English language courses consist of 28 lessons (21 hours) of face-to-face classes and 7 sessions (5.25 hours) of Supplementary Structured Study per week, except for Intensive English Evening course, which is 20 hours of face-to-face classes only, and Vacation English, which is 15 hours of face-to-face classes only.
3. I understand that some courses require a prerequisite level of English language for entry and that I will be tested on commencement of my course and placed in a class at the appropriate English level. I understand that if a pretest has not been submitted prior to my arrival, or if my English level on arrival is found to be significantly lower than that indicated on the pretest, my place on certain courses, such as Cambridge Exam Preparation, IELTS Preparation, Intensive Business English, etc may not be guaranteed.
4. I understand that Kaplan International English reserves the right to change its fees and conditions, cancel or defer courses and to alter the course timetables and class locations at any time without notice.
5. I understand that I must complete all work and assessments in order to maintain satisfactory course progress.
6. I understand that I must attend at least 80% of my course and maintain satisfactory course progress, and that if I fail to do so I will be reported to DIBP (Department of Immigration and Border Protection).
7. I understand that I must tell the college immediately if I change my address or other contact details.
8. I understand that I can not change my college during the first six months of my principal course without a written letter of release from the college.
9. I understand that school aged dependants accompanying me will be obliged to attend school whilst in Australia and may be required to pay full fees if enrolled in a private or government school in Australia.
10. I understand that my personal information may be shared between the college and the Australian Government and designated authorities and, if relevant, the Tuition Protection Service. This information may include personal and contact details, course enrolment details and changes, and circumstances of any suspected breach by the student of a student visa condition. This information may be stored on a server controlled by a third party in Australia or overseas, and may be subject to the third party’s privacy policies. I understand that Kaplan will not be liable for any claims brought by a student in relation to a breach by a third party in respect of this personal information.
11. I agree that the college can share information about my course and progress with my parents and recruiting agent.
12. I understand that my course will be cancelled or suspended if I commit a criminal offence, violate the student conduct code or college policies, have a very poor attendance record, have undisclosed medical problems that present a danger to myself or others, or fail to pay an amount I am liable to pay Kaplan International English directly or indirectly in order to undertake the course. I understand that no refund will be given and the immigration authorities will be informed.
13. I understand that in the unlikely event that Kaplan International English ceases trading, the Tuition Protection Service will ensure that I either complete my studies with another provider or will refund my unspent tuition fees.
14. I understand that this agreement, and the availability of complaints and appeals processes, does not remove my right to take action under Australia’s consumer protection laws.
