According to Lindsay Marie:
The gentleman suffered a sever heart attack. His family that was caring for the dogs surrendered them to a local shelter as the chances of him making it weren't too bright. The shelter held on to the dogs as long as they could before having to place them for adoption. The man got better in about 3 weeks and came to redeem them. Obviously every adoption place has an adoption fee that he couldn't afford and without the shelter knowing he had come back, a worker and volunteers raised the money to get him the dogs back along with treats, gift cards and other goods. This was at a satalite adoption center inside petsmart.
