In order to examine the feasibility of introducing a new transit system in Kangnam-gu area,
we forecast future transportation demand using the traditional four step demand estimate
method. To perform the demand estimate, however, a route for the new transit is necessary. A
possible route which seems to have most demand in the area is chosen and demand forecast
and feasibility study are performed based on it (Actually, the most demanding route in the
study (Seoul, 2000.2) is chosen.).
The basic year of the demand forecast is 1999, and three phases are set as 2006 for the first
phase, 2011 for the second phase, and 2021 for the third phase. Kangnam-gu is regared as a
direct influenced area from the construction of a new transit, and Seoul and the adjacent cities
