From Fig. 1(b), the DSC melting curves of PLLA50/PDLA50 blendsprepared by the low temperature approach show a single peak ataround 223e232 C, also showing that complete stereocomplexcrystallites with no homocrystallites are formed. However, forPLLA50/PDLA50 blend prepared by conventional melt blending, twomelting peaks at 170.5 and 218.9 C are clearly observed. Also, theappearance of the noticeable cold crystallization peak at 108.4 C
reflects the fact that the blend contains crystallizable free amorphous region, and the crystallinity (Xc) estimated by WAXDmeasurement is just 20.1%, lower than a half of that prepared bylow temperature approach.
