This increase in kernel dry weight was in agreement with previous findings by Fast Seefeldt et al. [10]. The starch content also increased with increasing maturity (p < 0.05) and showed comparatively large variations between the cultivars/breeding lines (p < 0.05). The starch content was lowest in SLU 7, increasing from 22.0% at 9 DAF to 38.8% at 24 DAF. In Gustav, the starch content increased from 30.9% at 9 DAF to 60.1% at 24 DAF. Early in development (at 9 DAF), the starch content in Karmosé (35.9%) was higher than in Gustav and SLU 7, but at 24 DAF it was lower than in Gustav.
