Rubisco activity decreased by 50% in the presence of salt compared to the control. Application of 10 mM N under no stress maximally increased Rubisco activity by 34% in comparison to control, whereas 20 mM N decreased the activity. Supplementation of 10 mM N to salt stressed plants increased Rubisco activity when compared with salt stressed plants, but the activity decreased by 5% compared to control. However, 20 mM N application increased the activity by 20% over control (Table 1).Photosynthetic NUE is the measure of N invested in contributing photosynthesis. It was observed that photosynthetic NUE decreased under salt stress. In the absence of salt, photosynthetic NUE maximally increased with 10 mM N but decreased with 20 mMN. In contrast, 20 mM N proved better than 10 mM N in increasing the photosynthetic NUE under salt stress indicating the increased demand for N under salt stress (Table 1).
