1. Introduction
This paper is the outcome of a larger
research project aimed at gaining insights into
the extent to which tertiary students are
prepared to embrace changes heralded by the
implementation of the so-called ASEAN
Economic Community (AEC) by the 10-
member Association of South East Asian
Nations (ASEAN) by December 31, 2015. The
research was conducted at one of Thailand’s
major private universities in late 2012.
