makEarthenwareing has been one of the Mon’s occupations since their settlement in the Irrawady Plains. The art of earthenware making at Koh Kret Island is exclusively unique, called carved jars or pots, presently known as elaborately designed pots famous for their beautiful decorations and symmetry. The pots together with other ancient earthenware are collected by Mr. Phisarn Boonphuk and displayed at the Earthenware Museum, also known as Ban Kwan Aa Maan. The artifacts truly reflect the Mon’s way of life, wisdom and faith in Buddhism. An instance of the artifacts is an earthenware bowl called Chiam, used for carrying sacrificial rice given to monks on Song Kran Day.
