The mechanical properties of the corn-stalk-based fiberboard
without adhesive were improved by pretreatment with the whiterot
fungus T. hirsute. Pretreatment increased the mechanical properties
of the fiberboard since it increased the number of hydroxyl
groups, crystallinity, and polysaccharide and laccase contents of
the corn stalks. Large-scale product the fiberboard without adhesive
will require optimization of hot pressing, fermentation, and postprocessing.
