Microbiological analysis of bottled water
Total 20 samples of bottled water were examined
for bacterial contamination and faecal coliforms.
The viable count was found in 6 samples, highest
of which was 3 × 103 CFU/ml in sample with lab
no 177-A. Only two samples with lab no. 40-I and
41-I were contaminated with feacal organisms.
The 14 samples were free of contamination (Table
3).
In our results 10% bottled water were found
contaminated that may be due to the unhygienic
practices as followed by workers in industries.
However, proper safety measures can minimize
the risk of contamination (AlOtaibi, 2009; Oyedeji
et al., 2009).
