.IV. LABORATORY INVESTIGATIONS
A. Compatibility with other transformer materials
New insulating liquids must be investigated, prior their
usage in oil filled transformers, regarding their compatibility
with the other materials present inside transformers. So,
compatibility tests of the ester composition with transformer
materials have been performed by several manufacturers, and
results compared to those with synthetic esters and/or mineral
oils.
The ester composition is found compatible with most of
varnish, painting, coating or enameling materials used to
protect or insulate metals (steel, copper, aluminum, silver). It
has no influence on metal themselves (especially non corrosive
towards Cu and Ag). Most polymers, elastomers and resins (for
gaskets, cable clips, adhesive tapes, spacers) are also
compatible with the composition, but some nitril rubber,
polyamide or polyester accessories should be selected
carefully. [2]
