The Burj Dubai is equipped with many smoke resistant features. Firstly, the building uses
pressurized exit stairs. There are also exhaust systems in place, along with overall smoke resistant
construction. All of these features act together and are designed to operate automatically when a fire
alarm is tripped either manually or from the fire detection system. Each floor is outfitted with a smoke
compartment that traps and contains smoke. Finally, a smoke control panel will be provided to
emergency personnel. This will allow firefighters and paramedics to manually adjust the smoke control
systems at their discretions. (Evenson, 2008, p. 3)
