The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRT) will close down the Kasetsart flyover to all traffic as of 10 pm this coming Saturday August 29 for an indefinite period to pave way for the construction of the Green Line elevated train project from Mor Chit through Saphan Mai to Khu Kot covering a distance of 18.4 kilometres.
The flyover starts at Soi Phaholyothin 35 outbound and ends in front of the Forest Department bypassing Sena Nikhom intersection and Kaset Nawamin road.
To alleviate traffic gridlock expected as a result of the closure of the flyover, motorists are advised to use the following alternative routes: Soi Phaholyothin 35 to Ratchadapisek road; Prasertmanukit road to Praditmanutham, Lat Plakhao and Ram-inthra roads; Soi Phaholyothin 34 to Wang Hin intersection, Lat Plakhao, Prasertmanukit, Lat Phrao and Ram-inthra roads; Soi Phaholyothin 32 to Soi Phaholyothin 30.
The Green Line route from Mor Chit to Khu Kot is an elevated route extending 18.4 kilometres long with 16 stations along the route. Construction cost was estimated at 38 billion baht.
