Later chapters refer specifically and in detail to some of these continua but in the meantime a few are worth a preliminary glance. The overall movement, of course, is from you to theme – from preoccupation with you own performance as learners. Inexperienced teachers, when evaluating their own work, will often comment on their own performance. They are preoccupation with issues such as pace, voice, explanation, questioning, task-setting, subject knowledge. These are all important, but it’s interesting to compare them with the issues raised by more experienced teachers. They will evaluate pupil's learning rather than their own delivery. Indeed, delivery isn’t part of teaching. You aren’t a postman.
