This coup prompted three important names in the Thai
history:
Gen. Phin Choonhavan – head of the group
Pol. General Phao Sriyanon, Gen Phin’s son- in-law, his aid
Colonel Sarit Thanarat (later Marshall Sarit)
End of Pridi’s time
Pridi and a few others escaped overseas
Pridi’s men on the boards of state enterprises (รัฐวิสาหกิจ) and
banks were replaced.
Pridi tried to get the power back in February 1949, but his
forces inside the Grand Palace were bombarded by Sarit’s
city garrisons (hence, the Palace Rebellion – กบฏวังหลวง)
Pridi fled once again, this time finally [He fled to China, then
lived his life in exile in France until his death on 2 May1983]
