The education programme was established within each unit as a 12-Week Phosphate Challenge and was designed to provide patient information regarding the importance of phosphate
binders and to support improved daily habits of patients relating
to the taking of phosphate binders.Education regarding the importance of phosphate binders and
compliance with medication was provided by dialysis nurses and patient participation was tracked on a "Tally board" within each unit. Patient participation was assessed by the allocation of points
