The characterization of seasonal changes in surface water is an important aspect to evaluate temporal variations of water pollution [23]. In addition, pollutants entering a river system normally result from many transport pathways including storm water runoff, discharge from ditches and creeks. These pathways are seasonal dependent. Chemometric studies including principal component analysis (PCA) have been applied to a variety of environmental applications in order evaluate the seasonal correlations of water quality parameters and to determine the most important parameters in water monitoring investigations [24,25].
