Characterisation of adsorbents by scanning electron microscopy (SEM)
The morphology of the adsorbents (potato starch, corn starch, cassava starch, rice starch, eucalyptus bleached Kraft cellulose and Select 450®) were analysed by SEM. The SEM analyses were carried out in a CARL ZEISS microscope Mod. EVO MA10, operating at 20 kV range. The samples were placed on a metallic support and previously coated with a layer of gold. From the obtained images, the particle sizes of the adsorbents were estimated.
