Therefore, additional scattering layers are generally needed, and due to which, a layer of ca. 400 nm TiO2particles was coated on top of TiO2 nanoparticle layer to increase the energy conversion efficiency [17]. Other-shape big particles, such as large nanospindles[18] and micro spheres with exposed mirror-like {0 0 1} facets [19],were also used to scatter light. Besides TiO2, other materials like ZnO and SnO2, were also used to produce light scattering in DSSCs[20–22].
