anterior rim of the crown is gently convex and constitutes an
articular facet that, in life, connected to the posterior face of a tooth
located immediately in front. The posterior rim is generally straight,
and forms a shelf for an articulation with the anterior margin of
a tooth positioned immediately posterior in life. The crown overhangs
an anaulacorhizous root that varies in shape among the
different tooth types but is weakly bilobate or flat. A number of teeth
in the specimen do not preserve a root, but instead have a cancellousSuch
teeth are interpreted to be incompletely mineralized, non-functional
replacement teeth. The tooth histology is osteodont.
The jaw piece (Fig. 2A) measures approximately 31 cm in
maximum preserved length, which corresponds to the anteroposterior
axis of the jaw ramus. It is three-dimensional and
appears to be relatively uncrushed. One end has a dorsoventral
depth of approximately 8.5 cm, whereas the maximum dorsoventral
depth located near the other end of the jaw piece is 13.5 cm.
The dorsoventrally shallower side is considered to be the anterior
dentine that fills the basal side of the enameloid ‘crown cap.’ Such
