DMI article in Rsearch Live - 'Ello' thought piece
The UK DMI team has recently received an enquiry from Research Live to write a thought piece on what Ello’s rising popularity might mean for social media and any implications for the research world. Richard Bussy has taken on a challenge and our article was published on Research Live: Ello Ello: premium vs freemium in social media.
Ello promises not to sell data or show advertising. The growth is not from a demographic group, but rather different sections of society. Instead of taking ad revenues they plan to sell features of the network at different values. Consequently the ramifications include thoughts on how we segment when thinking about social media, and what this means for how we should be thinking about the value exchange of paying incentives, towards something more rewarding.
