The serum
immunoglobulin concentrations have
been reported to be “normal” in marasmic
malnutrition (2) but poor affinity antibodies
are said to be produced (3) and higher prevalence
of autoantibodies has been reported
(4). Malaria, which is endemic in the tropics,
has been held responsible for some of the
undernutrition of school children in the tropics
(5).
