From Chapter 8: When Chester regained consciousness, he found himself in the sea. His hands were holding a log. He couldn’t see anything clearly because of the strong sunshine. He felt thirsty and exhausted. He closed his eyes for a moment and then looked again. He could see more clearly. He looked around and saw endless water around him. He thought that he might drown. He was afraid and confused. He didn’t know what would happen.
The sunshine was so strong that Chester felt tired and thirsty. He stayed in the sea for a few hours. He could not keep his head up and began to feel faint again. A big wave carried Chester to the shore. He lay unconscious on the beach until a seagull flew across the sky. When it cried, it made Chester regain consciousness. (39)
