Throughout the world, organizations and communities that have access to children have become
increasingly scrutinized for their responsibility to implement preventative measures as well as intervention
procedures for the children under their care. Organizations and communities such as these, that have not
yet taken adequate measures in ensuring a child safe environment are at risk to those that might target
them in order to gain access and opportunity with children. This challenge is being faced by every nation,
regardless of ethnicity, culture or religion.
Those, however, who seek to follow Jesus Christ, in addition to complying with Thai legislation in relation
to the Child Protection Act of 2003, perhaps have a greater challenge in responding to this issue in terms
of the ethical exhortations of the kingdom of God that Jesus Christ has proclaimed. These ethical
exhortations are the corollary of the sovereign authority and redemptive environment that Jesus Christ
has established as Creator and Redeemer. It is with these convictions that The Office of Child Protection,
with the assistance of Church World Service, will continue to pursue its vision of seeing all children in the
care of every CCT institution (including churches, schools and hospitals) to be protected from abuse in
child safe communities that would demonstrate the very characteristics of the kingdom of God.
