Hiroshi Ishiguro is robot expert. He wants to make robots more realistic. He believes the differences between humans and robots will continue to shrink until people think of them as human.
Ishiguro is trying to prove this using a robotic twin he has built. While most of us may dream of having a robot to do our work for us, Ishiguro has a different idea. He think the best use for his twin would be at his mother's home. She lives far away, and he is rarely able to visit her. But if she had a robot, she could spend more time with "him." When asked why his mother would be happy with a robot son, he replies," Because it is myself."
If robots become enough like people that you can't tell the difference, Ishiguro wonders, "does it really matter if you're interacting with a human or machine?
