3.4. Effect of Bougainvillea xbuttiana on the licking induced by a
formalin injection in mice
The Bxb at dose of 1 mg/animal i.p. and p.o. had a significant
antinociceptive activity when compared to the control groups in
both the first and second phase of the formalin test (po0.001) (Fig. 4). Similar results were observed for the groups of female mice
treated with aspirin, where the pain behaviours were inhibited in
both phases of painful stimulus (Fig. 4). In contrast, in the groups of
mice treated with dexamethasone, the pain behaviours were suppressed
only in the first phase of the formalin test (Fig. 4).
