In the second phase of the study (T2), games with a specific academic goal were gathered and designed. The academic goal was autonomous travel and travel training, as one of the core skills required for leading an independent life, particularly travel skills, street safety, design and learn new routes. This particular subject was used in order to make sure that students would not obtain information and/or practice from different sources, other than the school classroom. Systematic observation, videotaping, pre and post interviews to students and educators were used to gather data. We also used the STD, Perceived Competence Scale (PCS) questionnaire [27] in the form of closed interviews with students. Different kind of freely available online mini games were used and a digital game called “Street Pirates” was designed and developed, in order to be used in pairs of students, during observation, video analysis, as well as pre and post interviews. Data were analyzed using analytic induction [26] and Frame Analysis [22].
