Individual exposure to 1,3-butadiene and levels
of the urinary metabolite, MHBMA, are summarized
in Table 3. Exposure levels in temple workers
(11.29g/m3) was significantly higher than that in control
workers (0.04g/m3, P < 0.001). The pre-shift level of urinary MHBMA was higher in the temple workers
than in the control workers, but this difference was not
statistically significant. The post-shift level of urinary
MHBMA was approximately 3-fold higher in temple
workers than that in control workers (P < 0.05). In the
temple workers, the level of post-shift urinary MHBMA
was slightly elevated when compared to pre-shift levels,
though this was not statistically significant.
