In conclusion, the evidence from the village voices
elicited in this research supports a growing body of
qualitative research in this region of Thailand that suggests
the value of a community mobilisation approach to
prevention, detection and treatment of detrimental health
issues, underpinned by the KKU Family Health Nursing
Model. In this particular paper, the value of the approach in
addressing alcohol consumption and thereby contributing
to prevention of cancer and of long term illness has been
highlighted. The lessons learned now give opportunity
to further test and develop the approach in Thailand and
other Asian Pacific countries.
