This study is an analysis of the spelling errors made by EFL students of English language inone of the Jordanian universities, Tafila Technical University (TTU). It aims at identifyingthe types of errors students at TTU make in spelling when answering essay questions. It alsoseeks the spelling difficulties the students have when writing English. Because of the irregularities of spelling rules and the confusionor misspelling English pronunciation sometimes brings about, the present study is primarilyconducted to suggest solutions to spelling mistakes and to find out why most students makesuch mistakes in spelling. In addition, the study reported that the students have the same problems and that they make identical errors in English spelling.
