Colombia remains the largest exporter of coffee to the United States, accounting
for 19 percent of total U.S. coffee imports in 2007. With dramatic increases
in its roasted coffee exports, Brazil was fast catching up to Colombia and,
in 2007, accounted for 18 percent of total U.S. coffee imports. Although
Colombia and Brazil together accounted for almost 40 percent of total imports,
significant and growing imports entered the United States from other developing
countries, such as Guatemala, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Costa Rica
