We observed differences in the composition of the three oils.
We noted a high proportion of hydrocarbons in the oil obtained by the Soxhlet method (63.25%) (Table 2), but only about 8% (Table 3) in the oils obtained by cold press.
These hydrocarbons included many aromatic hydrocarbons from the benzene family.
Organosulphur compounds, such as thiophene and disopropyl, were identified in the cold press oils but not in the solvent extraction oil. Only two acids (hexanoic acid and nonanoic acid) were identified in the solvent extraction oil and esters of the acids.
Tables 2, 3 and 4 show the different oils and the family of components that we
found within them.
