BLOCKING OR PRE-ASSIGNING ROOMS
Guests who register at the hotel as a group appreciate the convenience of being assigned to rooms on the
same corridor or floor. Blocking is the process by which these rooms are set aside in advance.
A particular room can also be blocked in advance of the arrival date of individual guests such as VIP guests,
newlyweds who have reserved a bridal suite, a regular customer who likes to stay in a specific room, guests,
and special service rooms for the physically challenged. These rooms can be pre-assigned by the room
assignment reservation computer system.
When a room is blocked, it can still be sold to an arriving guest up to the arrival date. However, the room
must be vacant and ready for sale on that day in the computer system.
