d) The Buddha was not interested in converting people. He preached out of compassion for them, and never forced his teachings on them. This is clearly seen in the advice given to Kālāmas. He presented his doctrine and invited others to ‘come and see’ whether it contains what it profess to contain. He did not compare his teaching with that of any other and try to show that his teaching is superior. The Buddha clearly pointed out that such ideas as ‘superiority’ and ‘inferiority’ bring about anger and conflict.
