Nowadays people can communicate around the world, know and share the news quickly with social network so we can see that social network is the other way to make us know and understand the culture which is the people's underwater part. So I agree that we can know the ideas, attitudes, beliefs of Thai people through social network.
We know Thai people have notions of leadership. Thai people respect the king as a leader and a perfect model to the public. King is like the father of all Thai people. On social networks have shared a picture of the king to inspire Thai people to do something well. Thai people always respect and follow the royal words of our great leaders. And we will see many people comment “long live the kings” to show they always respect to the king.
Religion is something that should be respected in Thailand. Mostly of Thais is Buddhist. On social networks, we see most of Thai people post or share a story that they do in religious day or their important day. Thai people don’t like to hear the bad action in religion like someone dress inappropriately or priest do wrong. It would the topic that Thais discuss as we disagree when someone does something not good in religious ways.
Thai people care about the appropriate between men and women. Some Thais as a female post like they lives together. It is not good in Thailand. It might be disrespectful to the women’s family. But now young generation thinks different, they think it is common because they may be perceived to be together before marriage would to learn to live together. These ideas may have been influenced by western or times have changed.
It has many attitudes, beliefs of Thais on social network but I think it is not all the people’s underwater part. If we want to know more we should be friend with Thai people we will know and understand deeply about the Thai culture.
